COOKIE POLICY

Last updated

This Cookie Policy explains how Syphon Labs LLP ("Company," "we," "us," and "our") uses cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you visit our websites at https://syphonlabs.com and https://talenry.com (the "Websites"), and when you use our products, Draft, Talenry, and Daisy Recruiter, including our browser extensions and mobile apps. It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them.

In some cases we may use cookies to collect personal information, or information that becomes personal information if we combine it with other information. How we handle that information is described in our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.

Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Syphon Labs) are called "first-party cookies." Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third-party cookies." Third-party cookies enable third-party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g., payments, interactive content, and analytics). The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other websites.

Why do we use cookies?

We use cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons in order for our Websites to operate, such as signing you in, keeping your session secure, and protecting against request forgery, and we refer to these as "essential" or "strictly necessary" cookies. Other cookies help us understand how our Websites are used or remember your preferences.

The Talenry app (talenry.com) sets strictly necessary cookies and, with your consent where the law requires it, one analytics cookie from PostHog; analytics stays off until you accept it. It does not use advertising cookies. Our marketing website (syphonlabs.com) uses Google Analytics, only after you accept analytics cookies in the banner.

Browser storage we use

Alongside cookies, the Talenry app stores some information directly in your browser using local storage and session storage. This data stays on your device, is not sent to third parties, and can be cleared at any time through your browser's site-data controls (or by signing out, for sign-in data):

Browser extensions and mobile apps

Extensions. Our browser extensions (the Draft extension and Talenry Copilot) use the browser's extension storage, not cookies, to hold your settings and sign-in state. Talenry Copilot reads only Talenry's own session cookie, on app.talenry.com and api.talenry.com; it reads no cookies on any other site and sets no cookies. For the current browser session only, it also remembers which saved application each tab is working on and each tab's last page address, and forgets them when the tab closes. Nothing it stores syncs through your Google account. If you choose Continue with Google in the Copilot, Google's own sign-in page may set Google's cookies under Google's privacy policy. Extensions contain no analytics code and set no advertising or analytics cookies.

Mobile apps. Our mobile apps do not use cookies; they store your sign-in token and settings in the device's secure storage, which is removed when you sign out or uninstall the app. The app uses PostHog for usage analytics, which does not use cookies and which you can turn off in Settings.

Other technologies

Fonts. Our websites, extension, and mobile app serve their typefaces from our own servers or bundle them locally. No font request is sent to Google or any other third party.

Web beacons. We may from time to time use web beacons (tiny graphics with a unique identifier, sometimes called "tracking pixels") in our own marketing emails to understand whether they were opened and to measure campaign performance. We do not place beacons in the messages Talenry sends from your own mailbox at your direction (such as recruiter outreach). In many instances these technologies rely on cookies to function, so declining cookies may impair them.

Flash cookies. We do not use Flash cookies or Local Shared Objects.

Do you serve targeted advertising?

We do not serve third-party advertising inside the Talenry app, and no third party sets advertising cookies through it. On our marketing website we may use Google conversion measurement (see the table above) to understand whether our own ads brought you to us. The information collected through this process does not enable us or Google to identify your name, contact details, or other details that directly identify you unless you choose to provide them. Most advertising networks offer a way to opt out of targeted advertising: see the Digital Advertising Alliance, Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada, and European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance.

How can I control cookies?

You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject cookies. Essential cookies cannot be rejected while using the Services, as they are strictly necessary to provide them. Without tal_session, for example, you cannot stay signed in.

Where one of our sites shows a cookie consent banner, you can use it to select which categories of non-essential cookies you accept or reject. The Talenry app asks before enabling analytics and honors the Global Privacy Control signal; analytics stays off until you accept it.

You may also set or amend your web browser controls to accept or refuse cookies, or to clear stored site data. The means vary from browser to browser; visit your browser's help pages: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Opera. If you reject or clear cookies, you may still use our Websites, though some functionality, signing in above all, will be restricted.

The Talenry app honors the Global Privacy Control signal. On syphonlabs.com, use the cookie banner or the cookie preferences link in the footer to accept or reject non-essential cookies. See our Privacy Policy for more.

How often will you update this Cookie Policy?

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Please therefore revisit this Cookie Policy regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies. The date at the top of this Cookie Policy indicates when it was last updated.
